With the recent COE increase, more and more Singaporeans are starting to take public transport as their usual way of commuting. This might be also the case when there’s a surge pricing in Grab or Uber, making these riders to change minds and take public transport as well. Singapore has one of the world’s most efficient public transport system anyway! (*cough* mrt *cough*)

A Facebook user named, Deonne Tan, has recently brought to Facebook to share how she and her sister were both a victim of a horrific act.

She was just like any other ordinary citizen, taking the public transport. As she was carrying multiple bags, she had placed her hand on the bus chair for support before sitting down. Unusually, she felt a sharp pain and saw her hand almost bleed instantly between her fingers.

Imagine having a needle ( or 4 needles in this case) poke through your fingers. Ouch.

This was allegedly on bus service 240 with bus number plate SBS6691S. When she looked closer, she noticed how someone had intentionally placed four sharp metal objects into the seat. What’s worse is that they are placed in such a way that it could not be easily seen if not paying extra close attention.

Imagine what would have happened if someone actually sat on the chair.

According to various news sites, similar incidents have taken place before. – Meaning this wasn’t the first of such cases. Thank god it isn’t needles in strawberries though, which happened just recently in New Zealand.

Now, even though we may not be the ones who are capable of nabbing the perpetrator alone, we can definitely start to play a part and be more vigilant of our surroundings in public places.  This will make Singapore a safer place for all of us to live in. From now on, we’ll be sure to check our chairs before sitting down and we hope you do, too!
